Cardiovascular Services

The Cardiovascular Service Line at WellSpan Health is dedicated to providing quality care using leading edge technology. Performance is delivered in a compassionate manner by an interdisciplinary team who is committed to achieving the best possible clinical outcomes. WellSpan Health offers patients an extensive range of services including cardiac surgery, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, transmyocardial revascularization, electrophysiology testing, pacemaker and ICD placement, a women's heart program and cardiac rehabilitation services.

 

Care Management

Care Management is a challenging choice for nurses. As an integral part of WellSpan Health, a Care Management career allows nurses to use clinical skills and knowledge to assist physicians, patients, and families through a hospital stay. There is frequent and daily communication with insurance companies in the active sense of authorizing extended stays, home health care, durable medical equipment, and transfers to other acute care, rehabilitation, or skilled nursing facilities. The Care Management nurse is a valuable resource of staff, physicians, and management in regards to acute care criteria and appropriateness.

 

Emergency Medicine

Wellspan Health has Emergency Departments at both York and Gettysburg Hospitals. York Hospital has the only accredited trauma center in York, Adams, and Franklin counties. York Hospital's Regional Trauma Center combines life-saving technology with a highly skilled emergency medicine team and advanced life support services. In addition to the main Emergency Departments, emergency nurses staff the York Hospital UrgentCare facility. Emergency nurses have the opportunity to work between these areas.

 

Medical Services

The Medical Service Lines within WellSpan Health offer a wide variety of nursing experiences. Services include Medical-Transitional care, hemodialysis, medical telemetry, IV team, diabetes education, and HIV programs. Medical nursing includes everything from general to subspecialty care, from both inpatient and outpatient units. Medical nurses care for patients that have a variety of illnesses, and develop an excellent knowledge base to further their career.

 

Women and Children Services

Nurses working in WellSpan's Women and Childrens Services (WCS) pride themselves on providing complete and compassionate family-centered care. WCS nurses provide a broad continuum of services in Perinatology, Labor and Delivery, the Mother Baby Unit, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (York Hospital), and a Pediatric Unit. WCS nurses embrace the principles of family-centered care and strive to make a hospital visit a comfortable experience.

Oncology

WellSpan Oncology nurses use their knowledge, intelligence, and compassion to create the model for providing excellent cancer care. Oncology nurses at WellSpan are experts in the field and serve as hospital-based nurses, clinical research nurses, infusion and radiation therapy nurses, community outreach workers and clinical educators. WellSpan's affiliation with the York Cancer Center and Cherry Tree Cancer Center, as well as the oncology units within York and Gettysburg Hospitals provide nurses with the opportunity to practice ambulatory, acute, critical, and palliative care using state-of-the-art technology. WellSpan Oncology Services continues to explore innovative technologies and care delivery concepts to best serve the needs of patients.

 

Neuroscience Services

WellSpan Neurosciences covers a multidisciplinary commitment to excellence and advanced professional practice. Neuroscience at WellSpan Health has expanded services and developed into a strong interactive and interdepartmental collaboration between Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, and Geriatrics.

 

Surgical Services

Surgical nurses work in a dynamic department committed to excellence in practice. Surgical nurses practice in a contemporary practice model while providing quality patient care. The continuum of care throughout the phases of a patient's hospitalization is delivered by surgical nurses in a variety of settings including inpatient units, operating rooms, anesthesia, pre- and post-operative units and trauma-surgical intensive care units.
